“We don’t want to ban abortions…For now.”
Strategies of Czech Christian fundamentalists, and how to counter them.
Christian fundamentalism is not a common feature in Czech politics, at least from the point of view of most people. So when many of them first heard about the “March for Life” they did not connect it to a fundamentalist right wing organization that aims to make abortion illegal.
Organizers of this march, “Hnutí pro život”, uses its political connections to push an agenda of homophobia, mysoginy and anti-choice ideology.
In this workshop we will talk about how a fundamentalist religious group achieved influence in the parliament in an atheist majority country where most most people are in favour of legal abortions. We will as well talk about methods of countering them, in the streets or otherwise.
